How to plan for a round the world trip
I’m not a natural planner. I’m just not very good at it. As anxious as I am, I’m a bit rubbish at thinking things through and keeping track of details, bookings and timings. If I don’t have to do it, ie, if my travelling partner assumes this responsibility (as is the case here), I’ll happily sit back. So planning for a round the world trip, a continent-crossing, life-affirming, duration-undetermined kind of trip, is a bit of a challenge.
The title of this post is a bit misleading. I’m not going to tell you how to plan for a round the world trip. Rather, I want you to tell
me.
We’ve got itineraries and budgets and lists and spreadsheets – but I want to hear from people who are doing this, who have done it. How did you plan? What’s best to organise in advance, and what’s more fun to leave until you get there? We’re going in December, starting in the US. I’d love to hear from seasoned travellers and newbies alike!
