It takes courage to be creative
I wonder how many people have stopped themselves from starting a blog because they were worried about what people would say, or what people would think of them. I bet it's a lot.
It's scary to put yourself out there; to send something that's close to you out into the ether for judgement.
I remember that in my last year of university, I was told by my creative writing tutor to set up a blog as a kind of online portfolio. I pretty much laughed him off, thinking it was a bit of a cringeworthy thing to do. Put my writing out there for everyone to see and laugh at? No thanks.
Fast forward to now, and that's exactly what I'm doing. Because I kinda just think... Screw it. If people want to sit and poke fun from a distance, that's really none of my business. I think it's better to be the one going for things and trying them, rather than the one in the shadows trying to tear them down.
It takes courage to be creative. I think you should be proud if you've made something that feels true to you, and if you're brave enough to share it with the world.
